Bongao, Tawi-Tawi—On February 26, 2025, Kaltimex Rural Energy Corporation was awarded the esteemed 5th MANGgagawa Award, recognizing its outstanding contributions to Tawi-Tawi province’s development, peace, and sustainability.

The award, presented by Vice Governor Al-Syed A. Sali, son of Governor Yshmael “Mang” I. Sali, acknowledges Kaltimex’s significant role in enhancing community welfare and fostering regional progress. This recognition underscores the company’s commitment to driving positive change and sustainable growth in Tawi-Tawi.

Suresh Babu, Senior Plant Manager, and Ms. Sitti Rehina G. Maring, Admin & HR Manager of Kaltimex Rural Energy Corporation’s 8.960 MW DPP in Bongao, Tawi-Tawi, accepted the award on behalf of the company. This accolade follows Kaltimex’s recent expansion of its power supply operations in Tawi-Tawi through a P75.55-million investment in its off-grid plant. The company’s commitment to the region is further evidenced by its 8-megawatt diesel power plant in Bongao, which has been operational since 2016.

The MANGgagawa Awards, an initiative of Governor Yshmael “Mang” I. Sali, celebrates growth, empowerment, and success by recognizing agencies, institutions, and individuals who have significantly contributed to the development of Tawi-Tawi and its people.

This recognition not only highlights Kaltimex’s role in the energy sector but also its broader impact on the socio-economic landscape of Tawi-Tawi, aligning with the province’s vision for sustainable development and improved quality of life for its residents.
